2022: Progress in Malawi

2022: Construction of the 2nd building - progress and development

Cyclone Ana hit Mozambique and Malawi in January, causing storms and flooding. The region of our school was severely affected, but the new school building weathered it well and suffered no damage.

Until now, three additional classes were taught there in temporary wooden/straw huts, which unfortunately did not survive the storm and flooding. Therefore, we will bring forward the construction of a new building this year so that the three classes can be taught again. Now the construction site has been opened by the municipality.

Our project partner was in Malawi at the beginning of May and visited our school buildings. The construction site is very well organized and the young principal is doing a great job. The joy about the extension is very big.

2021: School opening

After six months of construction, the school in the African country of Malawi was completed and inaugurated in September ’21. 520 students between the ages of 6 and 12 are now being taught in four newly built classrooms and two makeshift classrooms. On behalf of the children, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you, our team, friends and families as supporters and sponsors of this project. With your and your donations, many young people will be given the basis for a self-determined life.

Due to the Corona pandemic, our fundraising efforts have been somewhat delayed, so Fly & Help has advanced funds. The total amount of 60,000 € is still 7,478 € short. But we are firmly convinced that we will get this sum together with your help and the charity event on 07.11.2022 in Straelen.

Our German partner was able to travel to Malawi in April and brought back these pictures and info:

The building is already half bricked (picture 1).

The friendly principal (pictures 2, 3, 4) thanks you very much for your donation and is already looking forward to the new school together with the children.

On pictures 3 and 4 you can still see the old classrooms, which will soon be replaced by new, beautiful ones.

And on picture 3 the principal is holding a paralyzed, retarded child in her arms. Our partner donated a wheelchair for this child.

In August: The bricks are plastered and the interior work is also almost finished! The construction is nearing the end.

2019: Trip to Tanzania

2019: Trip to Tanzania by Andrea and Ingo

This school was built in the no man’s land of Tanzania and now offers 600 children the opportunity to learn to read, write and calculate. Without the support of Fly & Help, these children would never have the chance to later lead a self-determined life through education. One must not forget that these people are deeply rooted in their home countries and most of them do not want to leave their countries at all to flee to Europe.

But besides the poor humanitarian conditions, the educational situation in emerging countries is often catastrophic. People invest in the capitals and forget about the children in the countryside. And it is precisely there that we have experienced how urgently help is needed.
