Our social commitment

Out of responsibility for people – here and worldwide

Domestic engagement

We provide targeted support to people in our region. To this end, we sponsor local associations, social initiatives, and projects that strengthen community life. We place particular emphasis on activities for children and young people, such as music festivals, sporting events, and activities that enable young people to enjoy cultural experiences, meet new people, and develop personally. In this way, we contribute to a vibrant and forward-looking environment.

Social engagement is equally important to us both locally and globally.

Commitment abroad

Internationally, we focus on educational projects in regions where children have limited access to safe schooling. Together with experienced partners, we support sustainable measures that have a long-term impact—from new school buildings to urgently needed infrastructure such as water, energy, and learning spaces.

Through our social commitment, we want to help give children in structurally weak regions better prospects for the future and strengthen local communities in the long term.

Our educational projects

Why social engagement is so important for education

Many children around the world live in regions where there are no schools, learning materials are scarce, and food and water supplies are uncertain. Without stable places to learn, education remains out of reach for many of them.

Our social commitment therefore focuses specifically on areas where support has the greatest impact:

  • Improvement of educational infrastructure
  • Creating safe learning spaces
  • Strengthening local structures and teachers
  • Long-term project support instead of short-term measures
  • Transparency in project progress and use of funds

Classroom with students in class

Angazy Academy, Kenya

The Angaza Academy in Kenya is located in a region with a high level of poverty. To ensure that children continue to have access to good education, we are supporting the expansion of the school to include new classrooms, specialist rooms, and a cafeteria.

The project will start in March 2026. It is the latest project in our international engagement.

School construction projects in Malawi

In collaboration with the FLY & HELP Foundation, two school buildings and equipment for students in Malawi were completed between 2020 and 2025. Both schools are now central learning centers for hundreds of children and continue to operate on a daily basis.

These projects mark the beginning of our long-term social commitment in the field of education.

How we select projects

For us, social commitment means:

  • in partnership on equal terms
  • independent and transparent

We work exclusively with organizations that meet high standards of quality and transparency and that can demonstrate that they use funds for specific projects.

To ensure that our social commitment abroad has a lasting impact, we place particular emphasis on:

  • local contacts on site
  • state recognition of schools
  • Verifiability of progress
  • long-term sustainability (e.g., financing of teachers)
